Step 1: Identify the Material

Cleaning depends on what your toy is made from:

Non-porous materials include:

  • Silicone
  • Glass
  • Stainless steel
  • ABS plastic

These are smoother and easier to disinfect.

Step 2: Wash With Warm Water & Mild Soap

For most non-motorized toys:

  • Use warm water
  • Use fragrance-free mild soap
  • Gently scrub surface areas

Avoid harsh soaps which may irritate sensitive skin.

Step 3: Disinfect (If Possible)

Non-motorized silicone, steel, or glass toys can often be:

  • Boiled for several minutes
  • Or sterilized (if manufacturer allows)

Motorized toys should never be submerged unless waterproof.

Step 4: Dry Completely

Air-drying is important because moisture can encourage:

  • Mold
  • Bacterial growth

5: Store Separately

Store toys in:

  • Individual pouches
  • Dust-free containers

Porous materials like PVC or TPE may absorb bacteria and cannot always be fully sanitized.
